I don't believe in black and white. In fact, with everything happening in this world, in my life, in the lives of my close family and friends, I barely know what I believe in anymore.

One thing I do know is that I can't give up. I won't give up.

Like a rose out of concrete, each of us has a responsibility to ride up during the toughest times in life. When we are scared, hurt or weak, we tend to let emotions like anger, hatred and frustration take over.

Mental health is one of the most important things we each need to be responsible for - usually for ourselves and sometimes for others. We can choose to approach people with disgust or compassion, each will lead to a different outcome. We can choose to judge people at the first sight or give people the benefit of the doubt, each will lead to a different outcome.

Of course, by choosing one approach over the other, we are also choosing to risk more than we may be comfortable with sometimes. But why is it okay that we prioritize our own comfort in risk of someone else's freedom. That I don't get.

Today is a very special day for some of my closest loved ones. A lot of pain and grief is reminded but beyond that, we need to realize that we still have each other. Life is hard, and sometimes it feels harder than one can bare. But let me tell you: we can do it.

Just believe.
